Squeak N Snap for Rescues
The Photo That Finds a Forever Home
For a dog waiting to be adopted, the right photo is everything. Here is how rescues across Arizona are using Squeak N Snap to capture the look that makes an adopter stop scrolling.
Squeak N Snap · Stories from the rescue community
Ask anyone in rescue and they will tell you the same thing: a dog's adoption photo is the single most important first impression they have. An adopter scrolling through dozens of listings decides in a heartbeat. A bright, alert, eyes-on-the-camera photo says look at me, I am ready. A blurry, head-turned, half-asleep shot gets passed over - even when the dog behind it is perfect.
We call it the 47-Photo Problem. You take shot after shot trying to get one good frame, and the dog looks everywhere except the lens. For a family with a phone full of storage, that is a minor annoyance. For a foster juggling a squirming litter, or a volunteer with a shelter full of dogs and a long list of listings to post, those lost minutes add up to lost adoptions.
Why a rescue photo is the hardest photo to get
Rescue dogs are not posing in a sunny backyard. They are often newly arrived, unsure, and surrounded by noise and unfamiliar people. Many have never had a camera pointed at them before. The volunteers and fosters doing this work are stretched thin, and they are usually photographing alone - one person, one phone, and a dog who would rather sniff the floor.
That is exactly the moment Squeak N Snap was built for. The squeaker is built right into the soft plush device, so when it chirps, it triggers a dog's natural orienting reflex - that instinctive head-snap toward an interesting sound. Ears go up. Eyes find the source. And because Squeak N Snap is a Bluetooth camera accessory, it fires the phone's shutter at the same time, capturing the dog in that split second of curious, bright-eyed attention.
One squeak, one tap, and the dog is looking right at you - exactly when the camera goes off.
It also means a single volunteer can work solo. Set the phone on a table or shelf, hold the squeaker, and snap hands-free - no second person needed to wave toys or hold a leash out of frame. For litters of puppies, that difference is enormous.
Real rescues, real results
We did not have to imagine how this would help in the field - the rescue community told us directly.
As a foster who works primarily with litters of puppies, taking pictures has always been extremely difficult. The SqueakNSnap has literally changed my ability to take good, quality, quick pictures so that I can get the Puppies posted. Prior to having the SqueakNSnap it would take me hours to get decent pictures of the puppies. Now, I can get it done in a matter of minutes.

Squeak N Snap has quickly become one of the most loved little mascots within Arizona Pug Party and Rescue. What started as a fun photo prop has turned into an integral part of our rescue efforts from intake to adoption day.
Our pugs absolutely light up when they see and hear it, and it has helped us capture some of the best profile photos for adoption listings — the kind of photos that truly showcase personality and help dogs stand out to potential adopters. It's also become a staple for our gotcha day photos, helping us celebrate those forever moments in such a fun and memorable way.
It's not just helpful for the dogs either — the Bluetooth functionality has made taking volunteer group photos at events an absolute breeze. We can set the phone down, grab everyone together, and consistently get the perfect group shot without needing someone stuck behind the camera.
In rescue, getting the perfect photo can make a huge difference, and Squeak and Snap has become one of our favorite tools to help us tell each dog's story. We genuinely don't know how we did adoption photos without it!

Built to help more dogs get seen
Stories like Tracy's and Lindsay's are exactly why we love putting Squeak N Snap in the hands of rescues. Better adoption photos mean more dogs noticed, more applications, and more forever homes - and that is the whole point. For groups that photograph dozens of dogs, we offer a dedicated rescue pack so the whole team can keep one on hand at intake, at events, and on adoption day.
If your rescue would like to capture better adoption photos - or you simply want the same camera accessory Tracy and Lindsay swear by - the Joy Capture Kit is the place to start.
